2024 Miata Trophy Champion John Langridge will look to retain his title when he returns to the grid in 2025.
Langridge will reunite with his championship-winning team Miller Motorsport for the upcoming year, with the #1 adorned on his NC Class challenger. Having cited consistency as a key reason for his triumph last season, the reigning Champion will be looking for more of the same this coming term.
Join us below as we ask Langridge some burning questions about the championship and his thoughts and feelings ahead of his title defence:
Q. How did it feel becoming the 2024 Miata Trophy Champion?
It was pretty amazing! Winning any championship is the culmination of a lot of hard work over the course of a year, or more. 2024 was very special to us because it was a home grown effort - although I run with Miller Motorsport, we’re all amateurs.
The way the season played out we got to a point where I could consistently collect strong results, rather than having to risk everything to win races. So when the moment arrived and I did secure the championship, it was a release of relief as much joy for everyone involved.
Q. What moments stand out most for you from last season?
My race win Anglesey was particularly satisfying, we always enjoy going up to North Wales and I was pretty hooked up.
The Brands Hatch weekends – both of them were incredible for different reasons. The first one we were on the Grand Prix circuit and supporting the GT World Challenge Europe which was a brilliant experience as it was a huge meeting on the best circuit in the country.
And obviously, at the end of it all we had a really good meeting sewing up the championship with lots of friends and family.
Q. How would you describe Miata Trophy
Competitive one make racing as it’s best. It is what all club racing should be really; fair, well policed, and honest.
Q. What are you looking forward to most for the 2025 season?
Getting started! It’s going to be brilliant to race on the three Grand Prix circuits this season. I also think the competition will be fiercer than ever and the standard will increase across the board.
Q. Is there any advice you would give to someone looking to make the step up to racing?
If you can, do it! It’s hard work, takes up a lot of time and you have to be very organised - but it’s very rewarding.
Q. Is there anything you wish to add?
Massive thanks to the guys at Miller Motorsport, my family and all my partners for getting me out on track. See you out there soon!
Miata Trophy kickstarts its upcoming season at Snetterton on Saturday 15 March. A 14-round calendar is in place for 2025, featuring two races at all three of Great Britain’s active Grand Prix circuits.
